Overview
This guide walks you through setting up your white-labeled website on PromptForm. You’ll learn how to:
Create a website in PromptForm
Connect your domain using DNS settings
Set up custom fields for your agency’s apps
1. Creating a Website in PromptForm
Log into your PromptForm admin account.
Navigate to the Admin section and select Websites.
Click Add Website.
Fill out the required details:
Website Name: e.g., "Development Machine"
Domain: e.g., app.devmac.com
Support Email: e.g., support@devmac.com
Description: e.g., "The DevMac agency site"
Optionally upload your Logo and Favicon.
Click Add Website to finalize the setup.
Your website is now created and in Test Mode. Test Mode allows you to develop and preview your site before publishing it live.
2. Connecting Your Domain
To make your white-labeled website accessible via your domain:
Hover over your newly created website in the admin panel.
Locate the required DNS record. Typically, this will be a CNAME record pointing to target.promptform.ai.
Log into your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy):
Add a CNAME Record.
Name: Use your subdomain (e.g., app) or root domain (@).
Target: target.promptform.ai
TTL: Leave it at the default setting.
Save the record and wait for it to propagate (may take a few minutes to several hours).
Return to PromptForm to verify the connection.
Notes:
If your domain doesn’t resolve, double-check the DNS settings or try using a www subdomain.
Your website remains in Test Mode until you publish it. Live Mode begins billing for the site.
3. Setting Up Custom Fields
Custom fields allow you to store reusable data for your apps, reducing repetitive input by your end-users.
Adding Custom Fields:
In the Admin dropdown, go to Websites, then to Custom Fields.
Click Add Custom Field.
Define the field:
Field Name: e.g., "Company Name"
Placeholder: e.g., "Enter your company name"
Field Type: Choose from:
Text Field (short text)
Text Area (long text)
Dropdown Menu
Optional: Add instructions or tooltips.
Save the changes.
Examples:
Field Name: Company Description
Placeholder: "Describe your company"
Type: Text Area
Field Name: Product/Service Description
Placeholder: "Enter what you sell"
Type: Text Area
These fields appear in the user’s profile and are automatically available to apps built on your white-labeled website.
4. Using Custom Fields in Apps
When users interact with your apps, custom fields enable seamless data integration. For example:
A blog writing app can prefill "Company Description" from the user’s profile.
Users can save multiple profiles (e.g., for different clients) and switch between them.
Example Workflow:
A user saves their "Company Name" and "Description" in their profile.
When using the app, they select the saved profile from a dropdown menu.
The app auto-populates the relevant fields, saving time and effort.
5. Publishing Your Website
Once satisfied with your setup:
Exit Test Mode by publishing your website.
Confirm the domain resolves correctly.
Begin adding users and granting them access to your apps.
